The Snark… Oh It Bites
Oh my, I have a new daily read. The Daily Gut hits you right between the eyes. Take, for example please, this rant on Hollywood stupidity.
The great thing about a-holes, is you can see them coming. Whether it’s Sean Penn or Jeanine Garafalo calling you a racist or wishing you dead – their essential douchebaggery makes them easy to spot and harmless. Their inanities should only generate guffaws, not concern.
I wish I could say that about nice people.
See, nice people are worse.
Case in point: Matthew Modine.
Like a typical limosine liberal, Matthew Modine went on tv and just absolutely showed how stupid he is and how clueless he is on how the world works.
Here’s how the post ends.
When faced with an “us vs. them,” mentality- in which the choice for our enemies is either death or glory: history suggests there’s only one way to respond. And it’s not with back rubs ( much to my sadness). It’s annihilation until surrender. It’s an ugly thing. But when you consider the alternative – subservience under a new caliphate – it’s pretty much all we have.
And if you disagree with me, you’re probably a racist extremist homophobe who eats poor children.
Heh.
A wonderful blistering rant on Hollywood stupidity. There’s some other great rants on the site too, so check it out.
Ahh The Incompetence Of The Republicans
Just when you thought the Republicans might actually be showing some sort of coherence and an ability to get something done as an opposition party, this wonderful story comes to light.
The Republican National Committee staffer who was fired Monday for coordinating the use of donor money to pay the $2,000 tab at a California strip club was warned ahead of time that the party would not cover such expenses, the RNC chief of staff said in a letter to members.
Ahh the wonder of it all.
I’m not sure which is worse, the sheer stupidity or the arrogance. Regardless at least it shows Republicans don’t have a problem with strip clubs. That should help bring in some libertarian votes, right?
Sarcasm aside, this is yet another story showing the current chairman isn’t up to the task. It also shows that those that work with the RNC are obivously into the power and money aspect than, you know, limited government. I mean, to be told not to do something and then do it anyway is pretty arrogant. Just like our elected leaders and mandarins in government.
But hey, it wasn’t just the bondage themed strip club that I find an issue.
The FEC report detailing the reimbursement also showed that the RNC spent tens of thousands on hotels, private planes and limousines.
Kinda hard to make the argument about limited government when you’re living high off the hog of your donors, no? Of course this also reinforces why the Tea Party movement is NOT a Republican movement. It’s about a change in attitude. It’s about limited government with personal responsibility.
NY Times:Greedy Capitalist Oppressor Pigs
I love the smell of irony in the morning.
I’m sure no one remembers outside of New England, but the evil overlords from the NY Times threatened to shut down the Boston Globe. And they made that threat because the NY Times overpaid for the Boring Broadsheet and promptly watched their buyout go tits up. So being the typical douche-bag liberals, they threatened to shut down the joint forcing people to take a pay cut.
Fairly typical for buyout work, right?
Well, being the sanctimonious assclowns that is the Sulzberger family, guess what they did?
Yes, they gave the CEO a pay raise.
Top executives at the beleaguered New York Times Company reaped hefty rewards last year, with Chairman Arthur “Pinch” Sulzberger more than doubling his total compensation to $6 million.
CEO Janet Robinson got even more, reaping $6.3 million, a 31.9 percent hike.
Oh the irony.
First they threaten to shut down a business and then they reward themselves with almost the exact amount of money that they extorted out of their employees. And people call republicans sleazy.
Needless to say the union boyos on Morrissey Blvd are more than a bit pissed off.
The Boston Newspaper Guild, which absorbed more than $10 million in pay and benefit cuts to members last year in order to save The Boston Globe, has lashed out at the Sulzberger and Robinson 2009 bonuses and are demanding their lost wages and benefits be restored.
“We were astonished to learn that the two of you received more than $10 million in stock awards and options in 2009,” the Guild wrote in an open letter urging its members to send to Sulzberger and Robinson. “During the year for which you were so richly rewarded, the 600 members of the Boston Newspaper Guild gave back almost the same amount in pay and benefit reductions — $10 million to be exact — after you threatened to close our newspaper, lay off hundreds of people, and strip Massachusetts of its largest newspaper.”
“Now that the Times has shown it can afford to lavish so much on a few top executives, we expect our pay and benefit cuts will be restored in the coming months.”
Ha ha, don’t hold your breath waiting for that pay to come back. The greedy capitalist pigs at the NY Times care about one thing and one thing only. Themselves.
I don’t even want to hear a wiff of lecturing coming from the NY Times about any business and their dealings, considering how crappy they treated their own employees. If you won’t walk the walk about being an enlightened business, don’t even think of lecturing me you greedy bastards.
Harry Reid Voted No Against Health Care
So this story probably would be funnier if it hadn’t already happened.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid mistakenly called out “no” Thursday when asked for his vote on the health care reconciliation bill, setting the chamber howling with laughter.
Reid voted the wrong way when the clerk called for his vote, realized his error and quickly changed his vote to “yes.”
Ha ha… the fate of the country is in this buffoons hands and he doesn’t even know how to vote. Oh yeah, a real laugher.
The sad thing is that he did this back in December when the Senate voted on their original bill.
Reid, who spent months persuading fellow senators to vote “yes” on President Obama’s top domestic priority, made the same mistake December 24 when voting on the original health care bill.
His office said Reid made the gaffe because he was so focused on getting health care passed.
So how does the buffoon in charge of the Senate do this twice on the same subject? I’m thinking either that’s his subconscious speaking or he’s a complete and utter buffoon who shouldn’t be in charge of the Senate. Sure once is kinda funny, but twice, then you’re just incompetent. Is there anyone competent left in DC?
About The European Useful Idiots
I guess they shouldn’t feel too bad after all. HRH The Sun King just played the Asians for suckas too.
Bowing to political pressure at home, President Barack Obama on Thursday scrapped his trip to Indonesia and Australia next week to stay in Washington for a final push for a healthcare overhaul.
So really, the Europeans shouldn’t get the knickers in a twist. It seems HRH The Sun King will shove anyone aside as long as it benefits The Sun King.
But I Thought The World Would Like Us?
We were told repeatedly ad nasueum, that the world would really start to love us if we would only drop that stiff, W.
Turkey’s foreign minister is warning of a breakdown in ties with the U.S. after a congressional committee approved a resolution branding the World War I-era killing of Armenians genocide.
And it’s a Muslim country to boot. I seriously thought and was told that Barack Hussein Obama would make us loved throughout the world with his election. As Insty says, who are the rubes anyway?
Now That’s Irony For You
This is really kinda funny.
The following Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works hearings have been postponed due to inclement weather this week:
- The Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, Subcommittee on Water and Wildlife, will hold a hearing entitled, “Collaborative Solutions to Wildlife and Habitat Management.”
- The Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works will hold a hearing entitled, “Global Warming Impacts, Including Public Health, in the United States.”
Yes a hearing on how global warming will impact people has been postponed due to too much snow. Now that’s irony.
And yes, I realize there is a large difference between climate and weather.
Just like I’d like to think the meteorologists out there would realize there’s a large difference in the words normal and average. I mean, they’re supposed to be science based folks, they should stick to using average and not normal as normal has no scientific meaning. But that’s just me.
About That Vaunted Canadian Healthcare System
To the surprise of many in Canada, the premier of Newfoundland is coming to the US for heart surgery and is not having it in Canada.
Newfoundland Premier Danny Williams will undergo heart surgery later this week in the United States.
The best part, unless you look to Canada for healthcare is that no one knew this was going to happen.
For many, the Premier’s need for heart surgery comes as a surprise, especially in light of the fact he is an avid hockey player and has shown no outward signs of illness as of late.
On Friday, Mr. Williams met with Prime Minister Stephen Harper and while speaking to reporters seemed healthy and in good spirits.
A decision to leave Canada for the surgery, especially if it is available here, raises questions about the Premier’s confidence in Newfoundland’s health care system.
Ya think?
As I’ve said before, the facts are, the health care in the US is the best in the world. People don’t come here from other countries for surgeries for nothing. If the Canadian health care was so frickin great, he would have stayed. That he doesn’t tells me that he knows he will get better care here in the states.
To Paraphrase Michelle Obama
For the first time in my adult life, I am proud that I was born in Massachusetts.
