Since he’s managing things IRL so well, why not?

A new bill would let BO police the Internet for “Nation Security Reasons.” And why not? I mean, he’s done such a stellar job at everything else. It’s about time he got his golden fingers shoved into the works of the web. Before we know it, we’ll ALL be singing the praises of his highness. Whether we like it or not.

With An Eye to the Future

So, where do we go from here?

Thousands of Tea Party demonstrations are expected around the country today, but the movement must decide whether its purpose is merely to organize demonstrations and express outrage, or to move on to the next crucial stage of a successful grass-roots revolution — electing a new generation of public officials with the guts to make the hard decisions required to enact genuine reforms.

It’s an interesting question to ponder, as I get ready to join the Tea Party downtown today. Are we simply going to complain, or will we actually start taking steps to make a difference?

True Danger – “Homeland Security” by Committee

This is frightening.  Really, really frightening.

Two days ago, The Deceiver in Chief signed an Executive Order establishing a “Council of Governors.” Did you hear about that?  No?  Me neither until about an hour ago.  I saw the order on whitehouse.gov, read it, and then googled for details.  Looks like the most detailed coverage of this isn’t even from this country.  The Canada Free Press points out how underhanded this is, making a point to remind us all that this is the administration that campaigned on transparency.

The White House says that this is intended to help the state & federal governments work more closely in times of emergency.  It’s a gift to “Homeland Security.”

Now the scary details, courtesy of enewspf.com:

The bipartisan Council will be composed of ten State Governors who will be selected by the President to serve two year terms.  In selecting the Governors to the Council, the White House will solicit input from Governors and Governors’ associations.  Once chosen, the Council will have no more than five members from the same party and represent the Nation as a whole.

That’s right, folks, now in our times of crisis, we don’t have to depend on the President’s leadership.  No, we a committee of 10, hand-picked by the president to assuage our fears.  It’s supposed to be a consolation that “no more than five members from the same party” will be on the council at any given time.  But really, how different are the Democrats from the Republicans in the grand scheme of things anymore?  A “progressive” red is just as dangerous as (if not more so than) a “conservative” blue. So these appointed 10, in the hands of the wrong person *cough cough BO cough*, is really, at best, just a team of cheerleaders and parrots that will delay any emergency response.

But that’s at best.

Did you hear the one about Obama’s Secret Vault?

Apparently, almost a month ago, as most of the nation skittered and scrambled to finish their Christmas shopping, gift wrapping, cookie baking, and card mailing, Obama quietly signed an executive order on December 16, “designating Interpol as a public international organization entitled to enjoy certain privileges, exemptions and immunities.”

Chuck Norris speculates as to why. The gist of his theory is that — since the executive order apparently “only applies to the New York office” — that now the INTERPOL office could conveniently serve as a “vault” to stash any goodies BO doesn’t care to share through, oh, say, the Freedom of Information Act.

Fat Check Fact Check

The health insurance industry needs competition (from the government, of course) because it consistently makes a killing. Right?

The way most news outlets tell it, that’s the case. However, this fact check article tells another story:

Health insurers posted a 2.2 percent profit margin last year, placing them 35th on the Fortune 500 list of top industries. As is typical, other health sectors did much better – drugs and medical products and services were both in the top 10.

HealthSpring, the best performer in the health insurance industry, posted 5.4 percent. That’s a less profitable margin than was achieved by the makers of Tupperware, Clorox bleach and Molson and Coors beers.

The star among the health insurance companies did, however, nose out Jack in the Box restaurants, which only achieved a 4 percent margin.

So, the way I read that, what we really need is for the government to get into the fast food business. Give Jack in the Box a run for its money. Mmmm. Government cheeseburgers. Sounds like a winner to me.

Some Perspective on why “Cap & Trade” is SO URGENTLY NEEDED

In one sense, this demonstration is humbling in that it shows how little we human beings affect our environment.

But more so, it angers me to think so many are so adamantly pushing a “environmental” agenda that has the potential to seriously cripple our economy further, and endanger the lives of the poor among us.

While we’re on this note, I suggest checking out the film Al Gore doesn’t want you to see, Not Evil, Just Wrong. See the trailer below.

If not to the Flag, to what, to whom?

It saddens me that the Democrats in New York state have turned to petty games such as literally locking themselves in the legislative chamber (keeping those mean ol’ Republicans out). Worse, though, is the fact that they have refused to stand when the Republicans lead the Pledge of Allegiance. I hope their constituents give them hell for that, put them in their place.

Transparent as Mud: The EPA Suppresses “Inconvenient Truths”

As Michelle Malkin raises in her lead story for today, the EPA has suppressed a report that *gasp* does not support their battle against greenhouse gases and HR 2454 (aka “Cap and Tax”). And would you believe, someone was fired for trying to get this out in the open?

Ok. Yeah. I believe it too.

Go straight to CEI to read about the study here.

All this from the most *coughcough* transparent *cough* administration ever.

“Stimulus” Perspective from Penny Guy

Another symptom of the Disease: ABC Turns Programming over to Obama

This developing story highlighted on Drudge makes me sick and gives me chills.

Nothing like a great big infomercial for Obamacare.
